Position Summary

The Bowling Center Manager is responsible for the successful day-to-day operation of Ledgeview Lanes, including our employees, customers, bowling operations, food and beverage service, and financial performance.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time salaried position, generally requiring approximately 45 hours per week. The Manager’s schedule will align with the needs of the business, including at least three evening/league periods each week and regular weekend coverage. Remaining hours will support administrative duties, staff management, financial oversight, marketing, league development, and group sales. Flexibility for tournaments, special events, and peak business periods is required.

Management Authority

The Manager has authority over day-to-day employee scheduling, work assignments, routine purchasing within approved budgets, customer service resolution, league operations, and execution of approved programs and promotions. Hiring, termination, compensation changes, significant pricing changes, major expenditures, and material contractual commitments require ownership approval.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Manage day-to-day bowling center operations, including lanes, front desk, food and beverage areas, events, and customer service.
  2. Manage food and beverage operations with accountability for product quality, customer service, sanitation, inventory, purchasing, portion and pour controls, waste, food and beverage costs, and profitability.
  3. Supervise, train, schedule, coach, and hold staff accountable to ensure consistent customer service, appropriate staffing, and efficient operations.
  4. Oversee cash handling, deposits, sales tracking, and financial and operating reporting. Responsible for revenue versus budget, labor %, food cost, beverage cost, operating profit, discounts/comps, inventory variance, and explaining significant variances to ownership.
  5. Handle customer questions, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  6. Monitor lane conditions, scoring systems, bowling equipment, and general facility cleanliness, coordinating repairs or maintenance as needed.
  7. Maintain inventory of supplies, food and beverage items, rental shoes, cleaning products, and operational materials.
  8. Coordinate leagues and tournaments, maintain strong relationships with league officers and bowlers, and actively support league retention and recruitment.
  9. Look for practical ways to grow the business, including stronger leagues, tournaments, parties, group and corporate events, promotions, and community partnerships.
  10. Ensure compliance with safety procedures, company policies, health standards, and applicable regulations.
  11. Promote a positive work environment and lead by example with professionalism, reliability, and teamwork.

Qualifications

  1. Previous management, supervisory, or demonstrated team leadership experience preferred.
  2. Experience in bowling, entertainment, hospitality, restaurant, retail, or recreation operations is a plus.
  3. Strong customer service and communication skills.
  4. Ability to lead, motivate, and hold staff accountable.
  5. Basic computer skills and ability to learn point-of-sale and scoring systems.
  6. Comfortable handling cash, deposits, schedules, inventory, and daily reports.
  7. Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours as business needs require.
  8. Must be dependable, organized, hands-on, and able to solve problems quickly.

Physical and Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items such as bowling equipment, supplies, and inventory as needed.
  • Comfortable working in a busy environment with guests, music, events, and changing priorities.
  • Must maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming facility for customers and employees.
