Augusta University is Georgia’s innovation center for education and health care, training the next generation of innovators, leaders, and healthcare provider.

Established in 2017, the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services was established through a unique collaboration between Augusta University Health System and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice with the goal of delivering high-quality health services to the state of Georgia’s justice-involved youth in 25 facilities.

Our mission in the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services is to transform young lives by providing evidence-based rehabilitative treatment services and supervision, strengthening the well-being of youth and families, and fostering safe communities.

Each youth will receive appropriate, individualized care to improve their health knowledge and their potential for wellness.

Responsibilities

Duties to include but are not limited to:

Under the general direction of the Lead Nurse – responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Guides patient teaching, nursing activities, and ancillary personnel. Also responsible for promoting a customer-friendly environment and providing superior service to our youth, facility staff, family, and outside vendors.

Required Qualifications

• Licensed as an RN in the State of Georgia.

• 1 year of previous experience in a clinical setting.

• Good organizational and decision-making skills; good physical and mental health; able to work under pressure; must relate well to patients, security staff, visitors, and co-workers.

• Functions within the Georgia Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act.

• Must have current Health Care Provider BCLS Certification, obtained through American Heart or Red Cross Program.

• Must be able to lift 50lbs. Normal bending, reaching, stooping. Standing and sitting for long periods of time. Must be able to move quickly in cases of emergency (within 4 minutes). Normal levels of hearing and seeing, if necessary, with corrective appliances. Must be able to perform BCLS.

• Security Clearance by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shifts may vary and depend upon the availability of each site.
