Under general supervision, performs routine comprehensive plans examination to ensure compliance with building codes. Work involves examining and reviewing plans, prints, and specification of residential construction, renovation, and alteration for compliance with City of Kenner building codes, zoning, and related City ordinances and regulations; contacting, receiving, and/or answering questions from architects, engineers, contractors, property owners, designers, and project manager of the project, specific local officials, State Department officials, and Wastewater Department; issuing residential building permits; generating letters; coordinating projects; performing general office duties such as filing and scanning of documents, answering telephone, solving problems, etc.; performing field inspection for illegal/noncompliance constructions; and attending Zoning Adjustment Board meeting. Reports to the Office Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Requires a degree including course work in architecture, construction engineering. construction management, civil engineering, or civil engineering technology with one to two years of construction, blueprint reading, and codes compliance experience. Must possess a valid Louisiana State Driver’s License. Notwithstanding any exception to the contrary, must obtain ICC certification in residential plan reviewing within six (6) months of employment.
