The Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium is looking for an individual who is enthusiastic about environmental education to work with us on a per diem basis. Students range from kindergarten through high school. Primary responsibilities will be teaching our summer programs. Programs include nature crafts, hands-on activities, and outdoor adventures to nearby freshwater, salt marsh, and woodland habitats. Possible additional responsibilities include guided tours of the Hatchery & Aquarium, hands-on outdoor programs, and birthday parties.
Hours: Summer programs run from June 30 through August 15. Preparations for summer programs will begin in late June.
Qualifications:
- Background in biology, environmental science, or education.
- Interest in early education.
- Must be enthusiastic and enjoy working with children.
- Must have flexible hours and be available throughout the camp season each week.
- Must be comfortable handling fish, reptiles, amphibians, and aquatic invertebrates.
- First Aid and CPR certified.

- Seasonal per diem educators will be paid $16.50/hour.
- Hours may be used to fulfill observation/teaching hours. Check with your advisor for approval.
