Project Engineers at Herrero Builders play a critical role in coordinating and supporting all phases of construction projects, from project start-up through closeout. Their responsibilities include reviewing and processing submittals and requests for information (RFIs), maintaining project documentation, coordinating between the field and office teams, and preparing meeting minutes and project reports. Project Engineers also assist with construction scheduling, weekly work plans, and change order management to ensure that project milestones, budgets, and quality standards are achieved. As part of Herrero’s collaborative approach, they participate in the Herrero Production Unit (HPU) process and the Value Integration Process (VIP), working closely with project managers, superintendents, trade partners, and clients to align project goals and deliver maximum value. Through strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, Project Engineers help ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and successfully.
Priority responsibilities include:
- Review and process submittals to ensure materials and systems comply with project specifications.
- Manage Requests for Information (RFIs) by coordinating with architects, consultants, and trade partners to resolve design and construction issues.
- Maintain project documentation and records, including logs, reports, drawings, and correspondence.
- Coordinate between field and office teams to ensure effective communication and execution of project objectives.
- Develop and track weekly work plans to support production goals and monitor progress.
- Support construction scheduling efforts by updating schedules and identifying potential constraints.
- Prepare meeting agendas and minutes for owner, architect, contractor, and internal coordination meetings.
- Assist with change-order management, including tracking costs, scope modifications, and approvals.
- Participate in the Herrero Production Unit (HPU) process to facilitate project start-up, planning, and team alignment.
- Support the Value Integration Process (VIP) by collaborating with project stakeholders to align goals, maximize value, and drive continuous improvement.
