About the Internship

Our paid Civil Engineering Internship offers college students an opportunity to immerse themselves in the day-to-day design activities within our Water, Transportation, Land Development, Government Services, Fiber and Construction Practice business lines. Throughout the program, students will enhance their current skills while working in a collaborative environment and learning from subject matter experts within the organization. They will participate in various phases of projects, gaining the experience and knowledge necessary for personal and professional growth

We also believe in the power of mentorship and networking. Interns will be paired with a new hire buddy who provides guidance and support throughout the program. Interns will also have the chance to engage with colleagues across different departments during office events, enhancing their overall experience and integration into our team.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited four-year or graduate engineering program, pursuing a degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Basic knowledge of office software (Word, Excel, etc.) and capability in working with CADD software, such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation, and other engineering automation tools as required.

Responsibilities

  • Design portions of projects using relevant office software, modeling, and CADD technology.
  • Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills or utilize computers to solve problems.
  • Prepare specification materials through research and manufacturing catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection, and payment for project-specific items.
  • Collaborate with CADD Technicians to complete design details and plan sets.

  • Water: From feasibility studies through construction phase services, we help clients in the public and private sectors achieve reliable, cost-effective, and innovative solutions to their needs in water, wastewater, and water resources.
  • Transportation: Engineers and Planners work together to complete location, corridor + intersection, safety and traffic impact studies, transportation master plans, and design of local city streets and complex interstate systems for their clients.
  • Land Development: Provides land planning, engineering, and landscape architectural services across commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential clients.
  • Municipal Services: Provide capital improvement design to local governments in areas of pavement rehabilitation, wet utilities, traffic and drainage. Additional project areas include building + code, electronic plan check, engineering, and municipal advisory services to local governments.
  • Broadband: Our engineers, GIS specialists, planners, field service technicians manage the implementation of small and large-scale fiber optic and broadband deployment initiatives.
  • Construction: Provide onsite construction engineering and inspection, quality assessment, utility coordination, schedule analysis, material inspection, and project record-keeping.
  • Geospatial: Provide land surveying, GIS mapping, data collection or field observations.

Compensation: $15-30/hour

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, California SB 1162, Minnesota Omnibus Labor and Industry Policy Bill Article 7 Section 2, Illinois Salary Transparency amendment to the Equal Pay Act of 2003. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
