JOB SUMMARY: The RN position is integral to the efficient functioning of the assigned Unit. They will, by virtue of their role, be responsible for providing professional psychiatric nursing care, via their own task functions and supervision of the task of other nursing personnel on their shift. Ensures all members of his/her team provide quality and effective nursing care.

• Consumer Assessment: Conducting comprehensive assessments to understand consumers’ mental health status, including their history, symptoms, and current functioning
• Care Planning: Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, treatment goals, and evidence-based practices. • Medication Administration: Administering psychiatric medications and monitoring their effects, including potential side effects.
• Therapeutic Interventions: Providing various forms of therapy, such as group therapy, psychoeducation, and crisis intervention.
• Collaboration: Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive care
• Patient Advocacy: Advocating for consumers’ needs, rights, and preferences within the behavioral health facility.
• Education: Educating consumers and their families about mental health and substance use conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies
• Crisis Management: Responding to psychiatric emergencies and providing stabilization for consumers experiencing acute distress or dangerous behaviors. • Documentation: Maintaining accurate and thorough medical records and documentation of consumer care.
• Support and Counseling: Offering emotional support and counseling to consumers and their families to help them navigate the challenges of mental health and substance use conditions.
• Ability to successfully complete initial and annual Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) physical restraint and verbal de-escalation training
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Education:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
- Meeting minimum standards of the Florida State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse required.
• Experience:
- Three – Six (3-6) years progressive experience in nursing.
