What You’ll Do
As a Preschool Assistant Teacher at MCP, you’ll:

  • Support the teacher in creating a nurturing, Christ-centered classroom where children feel loved, safe, and encouraged to grow.
  • Assist in implementing engaging, age-appropriate activities and daily routines.
  • Provide hands-on support with classroom set-up, clean-up, and maintaining a safe, organized environment.
  • Supervise children during play, snack, rest, and transition times, ensuring safety and positive interactions.
  • Build caring, supportive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
  • Model Christ-like behavior and share the love of Jesus in age-appropriate ways.
  • Assist with child assessments, record keeping, and preparation of learning materials as directed by the teacher.
  • Work collaboratively with your co-teachers and the MCP team to provide high-quality care and learning experiences.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and school events as needed.

Qualifications

  • A love for Jesus and a heart for children and families.
  • A warm, welcoming, and professional presence.
  • A cooperative, flexible attitude and willingness to serve.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both children and adults.
  • An interest in early childhood education and a desire to learn and grow in the field.
  • Meets Title 22 requirements for assistant teachers in a licensed child care center.

Physical Requirements
To ensure safety and active engagement with children, this role requires the ability to:

  • Stand, walk, kneel, and sit on the floor for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry children up to 40 pounds.
  • Support and supervise children during active play, both indoors and outdoors.
  • React quickly in emergencies and provide basic first aid if needed.

Other Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development required; 6 units preferred. Candidates with only 2 units must provide proof of ongoing enrollment each semester until 6 units are completed.
  • 6 months of experience in a licensed child care center preferred
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Record of immunizations: current TB test clearance, MMR, DTaP.
