Pelican Harbor Seabird Station is Miami’s premier native wildlife hospital evolving into a world-class wildlife rescue, rehab, release, and education center. We are dedicated to improving the lives of sick, injured, and orphaned native wildlife with the goal of releasing healthy animals back into the ecosystem, thus enabling future generations. We embody the highest level of patient care, compassion, and integrity while promoting community engagement on the importance of wildlife conservation.
Our internship program is as follows:
– 2 days a week, 8 hours per day with 30 min lunch. Preferred days will be discussed during the interview if selected.
– 4 months in duration with a total of approximately 300 clinic hours.
Our program is very hands-on; interns learn and will perform all aspects of rehabilitative care. They will have the opportunity to perform necropsies, calculate/administer medications, learn extensively about medication usage/prescription, administering fluids, feeding tubes, assist in surgeries and other medical procedures, and much more.
This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in becoming a veterinarian or vet tech, or wildlife conservation/education.
