We are looking for a hands-on Systems Engineer with strong skills in mechanical and electrical design to support the development of our next-generation handheld ophthalmic imaging systems. You will play a key role in system-level architecture, hardware integration, and iterative prototyping of compact, high-performance devices.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and prototype mechanical enclosures and opto-mechanical assemblies for handheld imaging systems
- Develop PCB layouts and electrical subsystems including power, motor/galvo control, and data acquisition interfaces
- Integrate components (optics, sensors, electronics, mechanical parts) into working systems
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, and refinement of early prototypes
- Collaborate with optical, software, and clinical teams to ensure seamless system function and usability
- Maintain documentation for design iterations and support transition to manufacturable prototypes
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in system integration and prototyping (industry or academic lab)
- Proficient in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) and PCB design (e.g., Altium, KiCad)
- Comfortable with benchtop tools, soldering, and rapid prototyping techniques
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with optical imaging systems (OCT, SLO, microscopy)
- Experience with handheld or wearable devices; medical device development

- Salary: Salary is based upon candidate’s experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. The Salary range is $70,000 to $95,000 USD per year.
