Tufts University’s Center for Professional and Workforce Impact is seeking an Instructional Aide for its state-approved course in prehospital emergency care, UCOE CPE131: Emergency Care. UCOE CPE131 is a course offered to both matriculated Tufts students and visiting students. The course focuses on techniques for the comprehensive management of medical, trauma, and behavioral emergencies. Successful completion allows participants to sit for the Massachusetts state certifying examination for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
The course meets twice a week during the weekdays and has scheduled Saturday “lab” sessions. The course will be in-person learning on Tufts University’s Medford Campus.
Responsibilities
As an Instructional Aide your duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide general classroom support to the Instructor
- Serve as a facilitator in skill labs using established teaching, evaluation, and testing tools
- Serve as a facilitator of patient care scenarios
- Maintain accurate documentation of student performance
- Remain current with State and local EMS requirements, policies, and procedures
- Maintain Instructional Aide status with the Office of Emergency Medical Services
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- MA EMT Certification in good standing with no history of suspensions or revocations
- Current AHA BLS certification (Instructor certification preferred)
- Experience working in a diverse environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Self-motivated multi-tasker and problem-solver with a strong work ethic
- Enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn
- Ability to collaborate and be a team player
Time Commitment
- January 15 – May 9
- Biweekly, 6:00-10:00PM with occasional Saturday “lab” sessions
- Specific schedules to be determined by Instructor
Pay Rate: $20/hour
