Job description:

Introduction:

Join our team at Vision & Learning Center, a leading Pediatric Optometry Clinic dedicated to providing exceptional vision therapy services to children (and adults). We are seeking enthusiastic Vision Therapist who are passionate about making a difference in children’s lives and are pursuing a career in the medical field. This role offers a positive and supportive environment ideal for recent college graduates interested in gaining hands-on training, experience, make a meaningful impact and eager to learn to work with children and adults with special needs, including Autism, Down syndrome, TBI, and learning challenges.

Job Description:

A vision therapist is an emerging profession where you help children and adults (most of our patients are children) overcome vision problems impacting their ability to perform well in school, work, and life. Vision Therapy is akin to Physical Therapy for the eyes. Your specific responsibilities will include working one-on-one with patients to treat vision conditions using the most advanced vision therapy techniques, charting vision therapy sessions, educating patients and their parents on home exercises and performing the initial assessment when needed. All training will be provided by our Certified Vision Therapist.

Job Responsibilities:

Vision Therapy Sessions:

  • Conduct vision therapy sessions under the supervision and training of a Certified Vision Therapist.
  • Assist in implementing therapy activities and exercises to improve patients’ visual skills.
  • Perform initial assessment when needed.

Patient Care and Support:

  • Provide compassionate care and support to patients during therapy sessions.
  • Monitor patient progress and document session notes accurately.
  • Educate patients and parents on Vision Therapy techniques and home exercises.

Clinic Environment:

  • Maintain a positive and welcoming clinic environment conducive to patient comfort and satisfaction.
  • Assist in keeping therapy rooms, front office, waiting rooms, restrooms clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.

Professional Development:

  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge in vision therapy techniques.
  • Learn from experienced Vision Therapists and Optometrists to develop clinical skills.
  • Willing to learn basic administration duties, such as occasionally answering phones, scheduling appointments and taking payments if needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; pursuing or completing a degree in a related field (e.g., Exercise Science, Biology, Health Sciences, Medical Assistant) preferred. Previous experience working with children is a plus.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: Starting at $18.00 per hour, with an increase to $20.00 per hour upon successful completion of training and the in-house test.
