INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
The Internship Position is designed to expose students to various areas within Ajax Paving. The Intern will choose an area of emphasis as outlined in the Internship Program Packet to be the area of focus throughout the internship. The outline of the Internship may vary based on an individual basis. Ajax can provide letters of recommendation and experience verification documents as requested provided the candidate completes the full program.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Intern will receive a mentor to be their point of contact throughout the Internship.
REQUIREMENTS:
A. EDUCATION
Intern must be in good standing with current University. If Intern is completing an Internship for college credits, Intern is responsible for ensuring Ajax complies with University’s requirements.
B. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
1. Willingness to learn.
2. Adaptability – The intern will be exposed to various areas of Ajax.
3. Ability to effectively communicate with peers.
4. Knowledge of safety practices.
5. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
C. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Internship responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Choosing an area or two of emphasis during the Internship.
2. Responsible for reporting to mentor and completing tasks in a timely manner.
3. Assist with assignments and daily workflow in various areas of Ajax.
4. Performs other duties and related tasks as assigned by Mentor.
D. SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL
1. Enforce and abide by all rules listed in the Ajax employee handbook.
2. Ensure all Ajax quality standards are met.
3. Ensure adherence to all federal, state, local, and Ajax Safety and Environmental rules and regulations.
4. Understand the importance of a Safety Culture
E. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Office environment, field operations, asphalt plants, and labs
Ability to work days, nights, and weekends as required.
F. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The essential functions of this position include sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting a minimum of 30 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, low-level work, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing, and talking.
