Job Summary:
With more than twenty-one years appraising fine art and estates in South Florida, our company offers experience in the practical and business aspects of the art world including collecting, object identification and evaluations. Our office seeks an individual who learns fast, takes initiative and is reliable with flexible hours (2-3+ days per week). The ideal candidate will have a College Humanities background or have Business, Legal, Museum, Art Gallery or Auction House experience. Contractor fee/salary is based on experience. This position can also be applied as an internship for college credit. Pay is commensurate with experience with a starting salary of $15/hour.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Create, organize and type appraisal documents according to standard format.
· Assist with onsite appraisal dictation.
· Organize and edit photos to be used in appraisal documents or research purposes.
· Research object information including any missing details on artist/manufacturer, origin, medium, provenance, history and other necessary data.
· Use art marketplace and gallery data to analyze and establish best comparable values for object.
· Assist with other office/administrative duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
· An Associate’s degree in an Art, Humanities, Business or Legal related field.
· At least one year of office/administrative experience.
· Proficiency of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
· Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat.
· Ability to interact with clients, gallery owners and other professionals.
