Who We Are: Camp Tel Yehudah’s dynamic program of experiential education, activism and leadership development, connects teens to Israel and Judaism. As Young Judaea’s national teen leadership camp, we are a community dedicated to fun, friendships, learning and social action.
About the Position: Madrichim (counselors) at Camp Tel Yehudah live in-bunk and work directly with our chanichim (campers) to make their camp experience fun, safe, and meaningful. Our madrichim are an integral part of making camp happen and of creating an inclusive environment for our chanichim. They work as part of the camp team to promote positive camper behaviors and will continue to learn and grow as madrichim and leaders throughout the summer.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervising campers ensuring their mental, physical, and emotional health and safety
- Using a variety of techniques and tailoring them to each camper in order to promote positive behavior and relationships
- You will work as a part of the overall camp team in order to implement and help create dynamic and engaging programming
- All members of the TY team are responsible for making camp happen but you are the front line and the face of camp to your campers
- Attend a 7–10 day training immediately prior to camp as well as formal and informal trainings during the camp season
- Creating ruach and a positive atmosphere among campers and staff
- Modeling positive behavior for campers – being a Dugma Ishit
