The Assistant Teacher role is a great opportunity to learn more about Montessori and possible career advancement. Many of our Assistant Teachers take advantage of our fully funded career advancement program by obtaining their own Montessori Certification and becoming Head Teachers.
Children’s House looking to hire positive and reliable individuals who have a love of teaching and are adaptable, caring, and team-oriented. Montessori experience and certification are preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Classroom Preparation: You’ll help set up the classroom by preparing materials, equipment, and resources for teaching sessions. Ensuring that learning materials are in good condition before and after use is essential.
- Lesson Plan Assistance: Collaborate with the teacher to assist with daily lesson plans. This includes preparing books, calendars, charts, and other teaching materials as needed.
- Positive Encouragement: Use positive reinforcement (such as praise, smiles, and hugs) to enhance students’ learning progress.
- Supply Distribution: Assist in distributing supplies to students during lesson time.
- Classroom Maintenance: Help maintain a clean and organized classroom by cleaning tables, chairs, and organizing materials.
- Meal Service: Serve meals directly to students and ensure they consume their meals before dismissal.
- Medical Care: Attend to children’s medical needs and assist other staff members if necessary.
- Supporting Other Teachers: Assist other teachers during their lesson time and ensure students’ personal items and needs are met.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
