Softball Umpire
Application Deadline: June 30th, 2024
Pay: $25-30 per game, depending upon experience
Hours per week: 10-20
Must be available evenings and weekends
Responsible for the facilitation of safe and fair competition in Men’s, Women’s, and Coed Softball Leagues. The Umpires enforce league rules and administer policies for the Parks and Recreation Division. They are responsible for using discernment to determine judgment calls such as ball/strike, out/safe.

• Field set up
• Rules instruction
• Technique and form instruction
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with players, scorekeepers, umpires, coordinators, and Parks staff
• Must be able to work Monday through Thursday, some Fridays, 5 to 11 p.m.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge of USA softball and rules
• Past playing experience. Past umpiring experience
• Past supervisory experience
• Past field maintenance experience
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team player
• Confidence in judgment and the ability to physically move and establish proper positioning
