Job Duties:
- Work closely on construction plans with clients, architects, and other professionals
- Make drawings, specifications and computer models of structures for building contractors
- Work out the civil drainage, structural loads, and stresses on different parts of a structure
- Prepare reports, designs and drawings
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, REVIT, Microsoft Excel, and MS Office Suite
- Develop design ideas using Revit and CAD software
- Apply expert knowledge of the forces that act on various structures
- Work with geotechnical engineers to investigate ground conditions and analyze results of soil sample and in-situ tests
- Inspect buildings and analyze configurations of the basic structural components of a building or other structure
- Examine structures at risk of collapse and advise how to improve their structural integrity, such as recommending removal or repair of defective parts or rebuilding the entire structure
- Investigate the properties of materials like glass, steel and concrete, and advise which is most suitable
- Liaise with construction contractors to ensure that newly erected buildings are structurally sound
- Obtain planning and/or building regulations approval
- Prepare bids for tenders
- Monitor and inspect work undertaken by contractors
- Making sure that projects meet legal guidelines, environmental directives, and health and safety requirements
- Supervise project teams
- Give progress reports to clients and senior managers
Required Skills:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering
- 5 + Years’ experience
- PE, FE or EIT. Must be able to achieve Professional Registration
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong mathematical ability
- Computer literacy
- Three-dimensional conceptual skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Diagrammatic skills
- Attention to detail and ability to follow lead Engineer direction
- Ability to liaise well with professionals from other disciplines
- Familiarity with Florida Building Code
