Tax Staff are responsible for organizing and coordinating clients’ tax data for the accurate, timely completion of simple to moderately complex individual, corporate, partnership, S-Corp, and trust tax returns.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare simple to moderately complex individual, trust, corporate, partnership, and S-Corp income tax returns as well as state income tax returns.
- Prepare simple amended returns.
- Prepare estimates for extensions or estimated tax payments.
- Prepare response letters to federal and state tax notices.
- Conduct research regarding tax issues.
- Review tax information submitted by clients for completeness. Prepare clear and concise information requests, if needed.
- Prepare adjusting and/or federal journal entries and complete trial balance to prepare tax return.
- Establish a good understanding of depreciation and how depreciation reports are utilized.
- Clear review points and verify changes prior to returning reworked return to the reviewer.
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Accounting and/or Taxation required.
- Acquired or currently pursuing 150 hours of college credit/qualifications in order to sit for the CPA Exam or actively testing.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and tax research sources.
- Ability to communicate clear, correct and concise English in verbal and written form and to effectively communicate with clients, taxing authorities, partners and peers.
Working Conditions:
- Occasional in-town travel to seminars, meetings and client’s offices using personal vehicle.
- Overtime work required throughout the year based on various tax filing deadlines. Heavy overtime work required from mid-January to April 15; may be in excess of 50 hours per week.
- Full-time compensation based on 2300 total hours annually (inclusive of PTO, holidays, training etc)
- Currently LGT is operating in a hybrid work environment, this position would need to be able to commute to Dallas, TX office part of the week.
