To effectively direct and supervisor staff members of the Enforcement Unit in enforcing state and federal laws and rules through uniform enforcement actions and effective compliance within the state. This position provides administrative direction for the division enforcement unit and provides the day-to-day supervision of staff reviewing inspections and complaints to implement progressive enforcement actions.

Four years of professional experience related to environmental legal work for government, or as a paralegal or legal assistant, or in an environmental program that includes compliance and enforcement of state and federal regulations, or an in an industry that includes pesticides/fertilizers. NOTE: A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Biology, Botany, Environmental Science, Horticulture, Soil Science, or a related field may substitute for one (1) year of work experience. An Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s Degree in legal studies may substitute for six months of work experience.
The ability to effectively interpret laws, rules, regulations, and policies and the ability to fully explain them to others.
Knowledge of state or federal pesticide and fertilizer regulations.
Excellent oral and written communication skills suitable to manage hostile or uncooperative persons, groups and to face such situations competently, professionally and productively
Advanced knowledge of computers, computer systems, and applications including MS WORD, EXCEL, and POWERPOINT.

Must currently possess and maintain an active/valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record subject to review.
Preferred Qualifications
More than 4 years of professional experience related to environmental legal work for government, or as a paralegal or legal assistant, or in an environmental program that includes compliance and enforcement of state and federal regulations, or an industry that includes pesticides/fertilizers.
One (1) or more years of work experience as a lead worker or supervisor directing the work of professional level employees in an environmental regulatory program
Professional experience with the court system and/or the court process.
Professional experience in investigative procedures, problem solving techniques, and excellent verbal and written skills.
Experience conducting state and federal fertilizer and pesticide inspections and investigations.
