Position description
SoftBank Investment Advisers is seeking a risk Associate to join the Investment Risk
team. Key responsibility is the application of financial analysis to understand and assess
risks inherent in proposed investments and in the existing portfolio of investments. This
position requires a candidate who is methodical and demonstrates strong attention to
detail. Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to “dig deeper” is necessary for this role.
The candidate will work with an experienced Director-level professional, to evaluate
individual investments, including a review of financial models, and due diligence
including market and sector trends. As this is a small team the candidate will be required
to support ad-hoc requests and / or projects that provide insights into the portfolio and
risks of individual investments.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and assess risks of the individual investments via a review of the
investment thesis, company business and financial models including the
assumptions utilized. - Interact regularly and develop strong relationships with investing teams to
facilitate information flow relevant to the risk assessment process. - Assist in regular in-depth reviews of the portfolio.
- Support the response to requests from the Head of Investment Risk and
Investment Committee. - Collaborate with functional teams as needed in the assessment of idiosyncratic
risks as well as any sector trends relevant to the portfolio.
Required Qualifications / Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Finance or Economics is required with a demonstrated
track record of both academic and professional success. Relevant master’s
degree is accepted. - Work experience in financial services (Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital)
and practical knowledge of Credit Analysis and M&A analytics. - Ideally the candidate has 1-5 years professional experience working in a Risk
function of an asset manager or investment bank. - Proficient in Excel and experienced in financial modelling and forecasting.
- Exposure to methodologies used to evaluate private investments and returns is a
plus. - Writing skills and proficiency with PowerPoint is beneficial.
- Ability to manage multiple reviews with competing priorities across global
geographies. - Self-starter who thrives in a busy environment, engages, works collaboratively
and with integrity.
