The Wyoming Girls’ School (WGS) is seeking a Principal Licensed Counselor to direct, supervise, and provide therapeutic treatment plans for girls, ages 12-21, that have been adjudicated as delinquents to the State-owned juvenile facility. This position is responsible for regularly assessing client safety, therapeutic interventions and progress, and necessary after-care services following discharge.

- Conducts individual, group, and family mental health and substance abuse therapies.
- Provides crisis intervention and consultation for clients.
- Conducts mental health assessments and diagnoses.
- Provides education and awareness on mental health needs and issues.
- Develop and implement individualized therapeutic treatment plans as it relates to each client’s overall program at the WGS.
- Participates in treatment plan reviews and Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings.
- Provide expert testimony in necessary court hearings.
- Generates clinical notes, provides documentation, and makes treatment and discharge recommendations.
- Directs related to work to other employees in all WGS departments in an educational and consultative role.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to individuals that are currently licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), a Licensed Addictions Therapist (LAT), or a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) through the State of Wyoming Mental Health Professions Licensing Board.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of treatment theory and application to promote the recovery process.
- Knowledge of therapeutic treatment methods for clients with co-occurring disorders.
- Knowledge and understanding of professional ethics, human development, adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and gender-specific treatment.
- Knowledge of cultural competencies, interpersonal communications, family dynamics, best therapy practices, diagnostics, and assessments.
- Skills in various psychotherapy modalities.
- Skills in oral & written communication, grammar, and spelling.
- Ability to establish client and family-centered therapeutic relationships.
- Ability to provide effective client advocacy.
- Ability to collaborate with the treatment team and outside agencies in order to provide strength-based services.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.
- Knowledge of state/federal statutes and regulations and department policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Master’s Degree (typically in a field which meets the academic standards by the board)
Experience:
1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in a field which meets the academic standards by the board) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Certified Practitioner
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage, Family Therapist, and/or Licensed Addictions Therapist
