Part time position for UTSA’s University Technology Solutions (UTS) customer support operations.
Our staff provides technical support and assistance for UTSA’s faculty, staff and students, offering in-person, and remote phone, e-mail and chat support. We maintain and operate the UTS public computer lab facilities and student printing system. As an employee of UTS, you are responsible for promoting and maintaining positive customer relationships both in-person and online.
UTS student employees can participate in our Career Skill Development Program. All employees start off in technical customer service roles. This program allows for professional development within our organization, to build upon job skills each semester leading to positions within more specialized needs such as Cyber Operations, Software Engineering, Networking, Technical Communications and others. Hourly pay increases are available for position/promotions and longevity of employment.
** Note on work locations and hours. This posting is covering multiple student-staff positions within the UTSA Technology Solutions department. Hours will vary depending on selected position. Be prepared to discuss shift(s) and hours during your interview. Remote work is allowed for some positions intermittently at the discretion of the supervisor.
Potential Duties:
Provide excellent customer service while:
Assist and respond to customer questions and concerns. Educate and clearly explain use of University sponsored applications, software and hardware systems.
Troubleshoot University computer desktop and laptop equipment. Provide hardware and software problem resolution per documented guidelines.
Troubleshoot University networking and infrastructure equipment, switches, phones, and related cabling and controls.
Assist customers with configuration and troubleshooting of personal computers and mobile devices as it relates to accessing University resources.
Maintain accurate and organized documentation of customer service encounters and work performed. Maintain and update knowledge articles. Perform other administrative functions as required.
Assist customers with use of UTS public lab facilities, computers, and software, and printers.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Confident and positive customer-centric attitude with strong verbal and grammatical skills necessary.
- Working knowledge of PC and/or MAC operating systems and applications with an emphasis on hardware and software troubleshooting and configuration.
- Working knowledge of mobile device operating systems and applications.
- A strong aptitude for problem-solving and analytical ability is required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Web technologies.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products a plus.
- Responsible and organized in general administrative functions.
- Be physically able to lift up to 40lbs.
