Responsibilities
The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse, Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (CDCES) position is to administer total patient care based on individualized needs of assigned patients and families in accordance with professional nursing standards. The Staff Nurse will utilize knowledge of diabetes to assess, screen, evaluate, educate, and provide care management/outcome management in accordance with professional nursing standards to pediatric patients who are under the care of the Outpatient care team. Provides patient care and diabetes education in various clinics as assigned. Shows a working knowledge of UH, Joint Commission & DOH regulations. Participates in evidence based nursing and related QA and PI endeavors.
Qualifications
Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) required. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current license to practice in the State of New Jersey required. BSN preferred. BLS required. Some hospital nursing experience preferred. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, good public speaking/group facilitation skills, and be an effective communicator with diverse groups of people, including community-based organizations. Must be highly organized and have strong attention to detail. Must have working knowledge of diabetes technology. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required. Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evening and weekend hours.
