The City of Leawood, Kansas will be accepting applications for the Seasonal Half Day Camp Counselor until May 1, 2024.
Summary/Objective
The Half Day Camp Counselor is responsible with assisting in the day-to-day camp activities. This position is responsible for assisting in the safety and supervision of campers ranging in age from five to eleven years of age.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities
- Assists the Half Day Camp Director in the planning, developing, implementing, and directing camp recreational programs, which may include arts and crafts, drama, life sports, mental linguistics, dance, and music.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating camper records including but not limited to attendance, consent forms, and emergency forms.
- Responsible for accompanying campers on field trips and visits to public recreational facilities including but not limited to swimming pools, libraries, and parks.
- Responsible for maintaining order and discipline amongst campers; safeguarding their health and safety at all times while the camper is participating in camp activities.
- Attends required meeting and training sessions.
- May be required to assist in making decisions regarding inclement weather, which may warrant cancelling participation or seeking shelter.
- Employee may be asked by the supervisor or acting supervisor to perform other duties that are not listed but are essential to the job.
Education, Training, and Certification Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have experience in working with children. Experience may include but not limited to providing childcare, teaching and/or working as a Camp Aid.
- Must currently hold or be able to obtain a CPR Certificate and First Aid Certificate.
